Devin
Nunes grew up on the family farm in Tulare County. Devin attended Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural Business and a Master’s Degree in Agriculture. After graduation, he returned to work on the family farm, during which time he won two terms on the Board of Trustees for the College of Sequoias. Devin was appointed by President George W. Bush to serve as California state director for the United States Department of Agriculture, Rural Development. He was in this position when he decided to run for Congress and won the seat in November 2002. "Our Founding Fathers created the House of Representatives as a way of keeping elected leaders in touch with the day to day lives of everyday Americans. As a member of the House I am mindful that I am elected by households and neighborhoods who share my concerns about maintaining freedom, security, education, health and vibrant communities. I am accountable to the needs and desires of my neighbors and the hard-working folks of Tulare and Fresno counties. People of this valley aren’t looking for handouts, just fair access to opportunity to lead happier more prosperous lives. They want to pay less taxes, and the taxes they do pay they want to see spent on worthwhile projects that improve the quality of life for us all. I am proud to represent this area. I appreciate that wholehearted support I get from residents here which allows me to speak with determination and confidence in Washington, D.C. " Devin and his wife, Elizabeth, live in Visalia. |
